Fix & Go repairs and replaces window screens, re-caulks windows inside and out, replaces weatherstripping, fixes casement cranks, locks and handles, and repairs window trim across Edmonton. We don't replace whole windows, but we'll tell you when the unit itself is the problem.
Window screens
Edmonton mosquito season is no joke, and a torn screen in June makes itself known fast. We rescreen existing frames with fibreglass, pet-resistant or solar mesh, replace bent frames and corners, and fit new screens where one has gone missing. Sliding patio door screens that won’t roll or keep falling off the track can usually be fixed with new rollers and a proper adjustment.
If you have several screens, pop them out and we can do them together, which is the cheapest way to handle it.
Caulking and weather sealing
Outside, the caulking around window frames takes the full hit of UV, rain and temperature swings from minus 35 to plus 30. Once it cracks or pulls away, water can get behind the siding or stucco and into the wall. Inside, gaps around the trim let in drafts you can feel on a cold night.
- Cutting out failed exterior caulking and resealing with exterior-grade sealant
- Sealing gaps between window frames and interior trim
- Replacing worn weatherstripping on sliders and casements
- Fitting window film insulation kits for older or drafty windows over winter
Exterior caulking needs dry weather and temperatures above the sealant’s minimum, so in Edmonton that’s realistically May through early October. Book it before the first hard frost.
Hardware and trim
Casement cranks that spin without opening the window, broken locks, missing handles and sashes that won’t stay up are common on windows from the 80s and 90s. Many parts are still available. We’ll identify yours and order the right replacement. We also repair and replace interior window casing, sills and stools, and touch up the paint.
When it’s the window, not the repair
If the glass is fogged between the panes, the seal on the unit has failed. That’s a sealed-unit replacement job for a glass company, not caulking. Likewise rotted frames on older wood windows usually point to replacement. We’ll tell you honestly if a repair isn’t worth your money.
