We handle exterior home repairs in Edmonton: fence and gate repairs, deck board and railing fixes, downspout and extension fixes to move water away from the foundation, exterior caulking, small parging and concrete patch repairs, and minor siding and trim work.
Fences and gates
After an Edmonton winter, lots of fences lean a bit further than they did in the fall. Frost heave can lift posts, and wind does the rest. We repair and replace fence boards and rails, straighten or reset posts where possible, and fix gates that sag, drag or won’t latch. A sagging gate often just needs an anti-sag cable kit or new heavy-duty hinges.
If you share the fence with a neighbour, it’s worth having a quick chat before we start. Most fence repairs between yards in Edmonton are a shared responsibility.
Decks
- Replacing cracked, rotten or cupped deck boards
- Resetting popped nails and switching to deck screws
- Tightening and repairing railings and stairs
- Fixing loose or rotten stair treads
- Prepping small decks for stain
We check the framing under any soft boards. If joists or the ledger board are rotten, that’s a structural repair and we’ll talk through options with you. In Edmonton, building a new deck that’s more than about 0.6 m (2 ft) above the ground generally needs a building permit, while repairs like board replacement usually don’t. Check with the City of Edmonton if you’re not sure.
Downspouts and drainage
Spring melt is when you find out whether water is moving away from your foundation. Downspouts that have come apart, extensions that got kicked aside or crushed by the snowblower, and splash pads that have sunk all send water straight toward your basement. We reattach and extend downspouts, install splash pads and simple extensions, and fix small grading problems right against the house. For eavestrough replacement or cleaning on two-storey homes, a dedicated eavestrough company has the right ladders and equipment.
Caulking, parging and small concrete fixes
Parging is the cement coating on the exposed part of your foundation. When it cracks or falls off in patches, the foundation underneath is exposed to moisture and frost. We patch small areas of parging, seal gaps where pipes and vents pass through exterior walls, re-caulk exterior windows and doors, and repair small cracks in steps and walkways. Larger cracks, settling slabs or foundation movement need a foundation specialist.
Minor exterior finishing
Loose siding pieces, damaged trim, a cracked soffit vent, house numbers, mailbox posts, exterior light fixture swaps on existing boxes. Send a photo and we’ll tell you if it’s one for us.
