An Edmonton handyman who actually calls back

Fix & Go is a small, owner-run handyman service in Edmonton. Imad El Abed answers the phone, writes the quotes and is on the jobs. There’s no call centre and no franchise fee baked into your price. Just a local handyman with a well-stocked van and a lot of these jobs already done.

We’re the call for the in-between work: too small for a contractor to bother with, too fiddly or time-consuming to fit into your Saturday. Mounting a TV on a concrete condo wall. Swapping a toilet flapper and a bathroom faucet. Patching the doorknob hole, hanging blinds in three bedrooms and building the IKEA dresser that has been in its box since spring.

What we do, and what we don’t

We cover general repairs, doors and locks, bathroom fixtures, TV and wall mounting, furniture assembly, drywall and trim, fences, decks and exterior fixes and plenty more. You can see the full list on our services page.

What we don’t do matters just as much. We don’t run new electrical circuits, connect gas lines, move plumbing or take on full renovations. Those need licensed trades and often a permit. If your job crosses that line, we’ll tell you up front and point you in the right direction instead of winging it.

Homeowners, renters, landlords and small businesses

Most of our customers are homeowners and condo owners around Edmonton, but we also help renters (with the landlord’s OK), landlords turning over a unit, property managers with a list of deficiencies, and offices and shops that need things mounted, built or fixed. If you’ve got a list, we want to see it.

Built for Edmonton homes

What breaks here,
season by season.

Forty-below in January and thirty-above in July is hard on a house. These are the jobs we see pile up at each time of year.

Spring melt

Downspouts that dump water against the foundation, fence posts pushed out of line by frost, gates that won't latch and screens that didn't survive the winter.

Summer

Deck boards, patio furniture and BBQ assembly, window screens, exterior touch-ups. Basically everything you meant to do outside before August disappears.

Fall prep

Re-caulking windows and doors, weatherstripping, door sweeps, sealing gaps where the cold gets in and checking that the dryer vent flap actually closes.

Deep winter

Dry furnace air opens drywall seams and pops nails; doors shift and start to stick or drag. It's also the best time for indoor jobs like mounting and assembly.

From 27 reviews on Google. Here are a few, word for word. Some were written under our old name, Leaf & Go.

“Our handyman was very punctual, great communication and worked extremely fast and efficiently. We had numerous projects around the house that needed to be fixed. He managed to mend our cabinet that was out of line, previously attempted to be mended (old plastic studs) and fixed it to perfection! I will 100% be calling Leaf and go again. Great prices, very professional!”

Questions people ask before booking

How much does a handyman cost in Edmonton?

Across Edmonton, handyman labour commonly runs somewhere around $60 to $100 an hour, usually with a one- to two-hour minimum. Rather than leave you guessing, we look at your photos and give you a price for the job before we start. Our Edmonton handyman cost guide has typical prices for common jobs.

Are quotes free?

Yes. Text photos to 780-566-1352, email info@fixandgohandyman.ca or use the form on this page, and we'll send you a quote at no cost.

What areas do you serve?

All of Edmonton plus St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, Leduc, Beaumont and Fort Saskatchewan. We also get out to places like Devon and Morinville when the schedule allows. See our service areas.

Can you do several small jobs in one visit?

Yes, and we encourage it. Travel and setup are part of every visit, so grouping jobs together is the best value for you.

Do I need to buy the parts or materials?

Either way works. You can buy the faucet, light or door you like and we'll install it, or we can pick up the parts and include them in the quote.

Do you do electrical and plumbing work?

Only straightforward replacements on existing connections, like swapping a light fixture, switch, faucet or toilet. New circuits, new plumbing lines and anything needing a permit go to a licensed electrician or plumber.

How soon can you come out?

It depends on the season and how big the job is. Spring and the weeks before Christmas get busy. Text us and we'll give you the next real opening, not a vague "sometime soon."

Is Fix & Go the same business as Leaf & Go?

Yes. Leaf & Go Handyman Services is our old name, and you may still see it on Facebook or Google for a while. Same owner, same phone number, new name: Fix & Go Handyman.
