Flooring & Tile Repairs in Edmonton

One chipped plank or a cracked tile doesn't mean a new floor. Most of the time it can be swapped out and nobody will know it happened.

Flooring & Tile Repairs in Edmonton by Fix & Go Handyman
In short

We repair laminate and luxury vinyl plank floors, replace cracked or loose tiles, regrout small areas, install transition strips and reinstall baseboards and quarter round across Edmonton. Keeping a few spare planks or tiles from the original install makes repairs far easier.

Laminate and vinyl plank repairs

Click-together floors can usually be repaired without tearing up the room. Depending on where the damaged plank is, we either unclick the row from the nearest wall, or cut out the damaged plank and glue in a replacement. We also fix:

  • Planks that have separated and left gaps (common in winter when the house dries out)
  • Peaking or buckling where the floor was installed too tight to the wall
  • Chips and deep scratches
  • Squeaks and soft spots where the subfloor needs attention

The single most useful thing you can do is keep a few leftover planks in the garage or basement. Matching a discontinued floor years later is often impossible.

Tile repairs

Cracked tiles, loose tiles that sound hollow when you tap them, and chipped edges can all be replaced individually. We carefully remove the damaged tile, clean out the old thinset, set a new tile and grout it to match as closely as we can. If water is involved, like a shower floor or around a tub, we’ll look at why the tile failed before just replacing it.

Grout

Crumbling or cracked grout lets water into places it shouldn’t be. We rake out failing grout, regrout, and seal it. Grout colour can be hard to match exactly on older floors, so for large areas we sometimes suggest regrouting a whole section or using a grout colourant for an even finish.

Transitions and baseboards

Transition strips between rooms, stair nosings, reducers to tile and carpet, and thresholds at exterior doors all wear out or come loose. We install new ones and reinstall baseboards and quarter round, which also hides the expansion gap that floating floors need around the edges.

Questions about flooring & tile repairs

Can you replace one laminate plank without redoing the floor?

Usually, yes. We either unclick rows from the nearest wall or cut the damaged plank out and glue in a new one. You'll need a matching spare plank.

Why does my laminate floor have gaps in winter?

Wood-based laminate shrinks slightly when indoor air is dry, which is very common in Edmonton winters. Small seasonal gaps can close up again in summer; persistent gaps may need the rows tapped back together.

Can you fix a cracked tile?

Yes. We remove the cracked tile, set a new one and regrout. If you don't have spares, bring us the brand or a photo and we'll help you look for a match.

Do you install full floors?

We focus on repairs, small areas, transitions and trim. For whole-house flooring, a flooring installer is often the better value.
